___

The 2019 Times Higher Education Research Excellence Summit: Asia-Pacific will debate and reinforce the positive and long-term impact of university research on society in the Asia-Pacific region. Brought to you by THE, in partnership with the University of New South Wales Sydney, the summit will consider research quality, output and impact from universities in the region. During the summit, the THE Asia-Pacific University Rankings 2019 will be announced.

The summit brings together globally celebrated academics and experts, including Australia’s chief scientist, Dr Alan Finkel; 2018 Global Energy Prize winner and Scientia professor Martin Green; associate vice-chancellor for government and community relations at New York University-Shanghai Hongxia Liu; 2018 Australian of the Year and Scientia professor Michelle Simmons; Nobel laureate and board of trustees professor of chemistry at Northwestern University Sir Fraser Stoddart,; 2018 Stockholm Water Prize winner Bruce Rittmann; and vice-chancellor of the University of Hong Kong Xiang Zhang.

Delegates can scrutinise exclusive THE data in an Asia-Pacific masterclass, offering insights from university performance data across the region that will reveal the emerging trends and potential challenges affecting university performance in Asia-Pacific and globally. THE  will also run a masterclass on the influence and response of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in the Asia-Pacific powerhouse, demonstrating the combined strength of the 10 ASEAN countries.

Held during UNSW’s 70th anniversary year, delegates will experience the energy of the campus, home to 59,000 students from 130 nationalities, and 6,000 staff.
